Even though Subhash Ghai is trying his best to keep the details of the film under wraps, it is learnt that the film is based on the life of Sarabjit Singh, the Indian citizen who spent 22 years in a Pakistan prison on charges of espionage.
The Sinha girl is expected to play Dalbir Kaur, the sister of Sarabjit in the movie. Sarabjit was attacked in Pakistan jail by inmates this May, and succumbed to his injuries. The film would be based on his story and his sister’s long struggle who tried everything possible to prove her brother is innocent.
It is learnt that Sarabjit’s family has already given their nod to the film. The film actually shows Dalbir’s trials to free her brother, and the project would be penned by Rajesh Berry. "It is a sensitive topic. Ghai's team does not want to make any mistakes. Dalbir has given a long version of her battle to free her younger brother and Berry is in touch with her frequently," said the sources.
"Sonakshi took her time to say yes but her excitement about the role was clearly visible when she first heard about the role," added the sources.
Ad-filmmaker Ishwar Singh Muchla will be directing the project, and it’s shooting will start early next year. Currently the makers are busy zeroing upon the actor who would play Sarabjit Singh!
Nevertheless with Bullett Raja approaching in, it is expected that Saif too would enter in the list, and here he also has the backing of Sonakshi Sinha, whose almost every film has entered in his big league. The film has been directed by renowned filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia.
The audience is thrilled watching the trailer of the movie, making it one of the quickest film teaser to cross the 2.5 million mark without the need of any promotions. Saif has worked really hard for the film, and even went on to muscle up for his role. He plays a gangster from Uttar Pradesh in the movie, hence he was required to change his dialect as well.
In fact Tigmanshu personally gave lesson to Saif for the same and now he has perfected the accent. Sources say, “Tigmanshu ensured that Saif spoke with a lot of locals to understand the language better. Since they share a great rapport, it was easy for Saif to learn with Tigmanshu’s involvement. Saif is a fast learner, so he picked up the nuances quickly.”
On his part, Tigmanshu says, “Saif is a very proactive actor and he keenly participated in the learning process. He is truly a director’s actor, and he diligently listened to what I had to say.”
The film comes out on November 29!
